Tales From Two Texas Paw Paw

Hi folks, this is 2 Texas PawPaw and the reason for this blog is I like to tell stories and try to write a little poetry now and then. Most of my writings is about my family because I have the greatest family in the world, I realize if you dont know my family, it might be a little boring to you but maybe my family will get a kick out of some of it anyway, Hope you like it and if you dont, well, thats ok too, you're still my friend.

"MARTY ROBBINS"

Hi folks, this is Two Texas PawPaw and this morning I want to give you a tribute to a country singing legend. If you're above the age of 40, you probably know who Marty Robbins was. If you're between 30 and 40, you've probably heard his music. If you're below the age of 30, you may have never heard of him, and if you don't like country music, you've missed some great entertainment in your life. Marty has been dead for almost 23 years and he was always one of my favorites. I hope he was one of yours. It goes like this:-----THE DAY, DEC THE 8TH, 1982---THE DEATH OF A COUNTRY STAR WAS THE HEADLINE IN THE NEWS---HE PASSED THROUGH THIS WORLD ON A VERY LARGE NOTE---HE LEFT US EVERYTHING FROM "EL PASO" TO "A WHITE SPORT COAT---HIS SONGS THRILLED MANY MILLIONS, NO MATTER WHAT THEIR AGE---WHETHER IT WAS THROUGH A RECORD OR PERFORMING ON THE STAGE---HIS HOME WAS THE GRAND 'OL OPRY, IN 1953 HE CAME---AND JUST WEEKS BEFORE HIS PASSING, THEY VOTED HIM TO THE COUNTRY MUSIC HALL OF FAME---"MY WOMAN, MY WOMAN, MY WIFE", WAS 1970'S BEST COUNTRY SONG---THE LIST OF HIS OTHER ACCOMPLISHMENTS, YOU'LL FIND IT VERY LONG---THE DEATH OF MARTY ROBBINS LEFT MANY BALLADS IN OUR SITE---THE WORLD LOST A TALENT, COUNTRY MUSIC LOST A GIANT---WE WILL REMEMBER YOU MARTY ROBBINS AS ONE OF COUNTRY MUSICS BEST---YOUR SONGS WILL LIVE FOREVER, AND WITH GOD YOUR SOUL WILL REST-----Do you remember these other great country stars we lost? Jim Reeves, Roger Miller, Bob Wills, Ernest Tubb, Faron Young, Patsy Cline, Hank Williams, Roy Acuff, Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash, and the list goes on and on. I hope you are a country music fan, and, until next time, this is Two Texas PawPaw signing off, and, the good Lord willing and the creeks don't rise, I'll be back tomorrow.

Well, I am a big fan of country music, but I can't say I remember Marty Robbins. The name sounds familiar but that's about it. All I know is, if Dolly Parton ever dies she better get a poem from you!
