Tales From Two Texas Paw Paw

Hi folks, this is 2 Texas PawPaw and the reason for this blog is I like to tell stories and try to write a little poetry now and then. Most of my writings is about my family because I have the greatest family in the world, I realize if you dont know my family, it might be a little boring to you but maybe my family will get a kick out of some of it anyway, Hope you like it and if you dont, well, thats ok too, you're still my friend.

"THE DASH"

Hi folks, this is Two Texas PawPaw. Once again, my daughter Kathy came through. Following is one of the most beautiful poems I've ever come accross. And, once again, I did not write this and once again, I wish I had. It's titled "THE DASH", and it goes like this:-----I READ OF A MAN WHO STOOD TO SPEAK, AT THE FUNERAL OF A FRIEND---HE REFERRED TO THE DATES ON HER TOMBSTONE, FROM THE BEGINNING...TO THE END---HE NOTED THAT FIRST CAME THE DATE OF HER BIRTH, AND SPOKE OF THE FOLLOWING DATE WITH TEARS---BUT HE SAID WHAT MATTERED MOST OF ALL, WAS THE DASH BETWEEN THE YEARS---FOR THAT DASH REPRESENTS ALL THE TIMETHAT SHE SPENT ALIVE ON THIS EARTH---AND NOW ONLY THOSE WHO LOVED HER, KNOW WHAT THAT LITTLE LINE IS WORTH---FOR IT MATTERS NOT HOW MUCH WE OWN, THE CARS, THE HOUSE...THE CASH---WHAT MATTERS IS HOW WE LIVE AND LOVE, AND HOW WE SPEND OUR DASH---SO THINK ABOUT THIS LONG AND HARD, ARE THERE THINGS YOU'D LIKE TO CHANGE?---FOR YOU NEVER KNOW HOW MUCH TIME IS LEFT THAT CAN STILL BE RE-ARRANGED---IF WE COULD JUST SLOW DOWN ENOUGH TO CONSIDER WHATS TRUE AND REAL---AND ALWAYS TRY TO UNDERSTAND THE WAY OTHER PEOPLE FEEL---AND BE LESS QUICK TO ANGER, AND SHOW APPRECIATION MORE---AND LOVE THE PEOPLE IN OUR LIVES, LIKE WE'VE NEVER LOVED BEFORE---IF WE TREAT EACH OTHER WITH RESPECT, AND MORE OFTEN WEAR A SMILE---REMEMBERING THAT THIS SPECIAL DASH, MIGHT ONLY LAST A LITTLE WHILE---SO WHEN YOUR EULOGY IS BEING READ, WITH YOUR LIFE'S ACTIONS TO RE-HASH---WOULD YOU BE PROUD OF THE THINGS THEY SAY ABOUT HOW YOU SPENT YOUR DASH?:-----This is Two Texas PawPaw, signing off.

I heard that one at my uncles funeral and I truly believe this and want it read at my funeral... how good I was between the dashes, that is.

MISS YOU
